We Want “Cellphone Rate Cut”

We Want “Cellphone Rate Cut”

  – The technology is the best but the service is …

Why do we want “Cellphone Rate Cut”?

The cellphone subscribers grow but the cellphone rate is not changed. While cellphone carriers (SK Telecom, KTF and LG Telecom) reduced the charge slightly last year, it was not acceptable.
The carriers’ net income is growing for the drastic increase of subscribers, the abrogation of cellphone subsidy and the reduction of marketing cost. The carriers seem to break a new record for the increase of traffic and the new services. But the carriers have ignored “Cellphone Rate Cut” for the net loss and the new investment.
The present fee is not reasonable for the increase of subscribers and huge net income. The costs for service have been decreased and the gain has been increased. In spite of these facts, the charge is at a standstill. Consequently, we doubt the standard and ground on the rate of cellphone. We also doubt whether the government controls the carriers.
The typical problem of the cellphone rate is the basic charge. Generally, the basic call is provided by the basic charge. But in our case, the basic call is not included in the basic rate.

PSPD’s proposal

1. Cellphone carriers must reduce basic rates by 30%. In this case, we cannot consider the increase in the call charge.

2. We want 40 minutes basic call per month with basic charge. The basic charge without basic calls does not make sense.

3. Cellphone carriers must open to the public the cost account and estimated standard on the rate of cellphone. The cost of charge is not business secret.

4. The Ministry of Communication and Information must strengthen the regulations on cellphone carriers.

What we have done for “Cell Phone Rate Cut”

1. We have received nearly 500,000 online singings for “Cell Phone Rate Cut”.
2. We have held online and offline demonstration and campaigns against the government and the phone carriers.

What we will do

1. On august 6th, we will proclaim the prompt civil action for “Cellphone Rate Cut”.
2. For 100 days, we will hold one-person relay demonstration against the Ministry of Communication and Information.
