In 2020 at the 70th anniversary of the Korean war there have been a lot of efforts made by civil society organizations and religious communities to end the Korean war and achieve peace on the peninsula. As part of the efforts the Korea Peace Appeal campaign has been launched with international partner organizations.

We witnessed a series of summits between the two Koreas and between the US and the DPRK in 2018, and there was a hope that a new age of peace would come to us. However since the Hanoi summit had no fruitful agreement between the US and the DPRK, there has been deadlock between them and no meaningful progress made between the two Koreas as well. At the end of 2020, with the result of the US presidential election, it needs to discuss lessons of the last two years and analyse prospects next year for building peace on the Korean peninsula.

The Korea Peace Appeal campaign which has been advocating a formal end of the Korean war and a peace agreement, will host a roundtable to discuss prospects and challenges of ending the war and building peace on the Korean peninsula in 2021. Panels will speak about prospects and challenges based on policies from the US, DPRK, Europe, and ROK respectively. There will be a Q&A session and floor discussion.

We invite all of you who want to make peace with us.
