Vote or Veto to the Empire?

Vote or Veto to the Empire?

Francis Daehoon Lee, 7 Jan 2004

It is difficult to say whether or not voting counts any more. Even more difficult is to think for an election in a country of not my own. But now, an extraordinary certainty is looming over the horizon, over one particular election. We will see more wars and bloodshed if George W. Bush is reelected to the president of the United States this year. Around the globe hatred and violence will surge even more. They will all feed a dangerous global project, the Empire of Fear, and hatred, the Bush’s world. And peace will be an impossible dream. This year that much voting counts, maybe extraordinarily too much for an election of a country, and too many are concerned of its outcome.

The World is Safer without Bush

Let’s open our eyes and ears to the real reality. Wars solve nothing. Instead, they kill and create more violence. Every time an empire strikes a target by go-it-alone way, it loses millions of good hearts and minds on the global village. Every time a bomb drops over innocent people, the empire cultivates its own tragedy. Every inch of occupation creates miles of resistance.

Launching a war with false cause, imagined fear, invites more backlashes. The deadliest of them all are hatred and ridicule, a fast-track loss of what we cherish. This is how an empire seeking awe with military might invite more insecurity for its own people. To cover up its own creation of insecurity, it steals democracy and human rights from its own citizens. Empire of Fear devours its own inside.

The world would be safer without self-destruction. The world would be friendlier without foreign guns and uniforms in our own sovereign countries. A veto to this delusion would make the world more peaceful, a global peoples’ veto!

It is Our Choice.

Darkness cannot win light. People’s hearts are not won by force. Managing this troubled world with fear is foolish. You have a choice and we have a choice. This is our right, right to veto to injustice, veto to the tyranny of the empire without consent. Veto to Bush’s empire. This is a small but big step towards restoring what we have lost so far with Bush in power. We need to bring back republic to the American people and justice to the people. We need to bring back basic rights and freedom to all peoples without exceptions.

The world always moves one from those who can dream. In time the dream will turn into light dispelling darkness. Dream! Make it Happen! Defeat Bush in 2004 for a Safer World!
