10/8~11/19 Live Talk with Asian Human Rights Defenders

아시아 강좌

Introduction
In 2012, PSPD’s International Solidarity Committee and Sungkonghoe University’s MAINS programme jointly designed a series of lecture to promote the understanding human rights, democracy, peace and international development in Asia. PSPD organised several lectures in the past on Asian democracy and speakers were Korean academics who are specialised in other Asian countries. This year, we designed lectures with Sungkonghoe University MAINS programme students who are human rights defenders from different parts of Asia. Through this programme, activists in Asia will share their experiences on various topics including human rights, democracy, peace and security, and provide their own perspectives on up-to-date accounts of current issues in their respective countries.
We will use this opportunity to hear directly from Asian human rights defenders about their own struggle to advance democracy, success stories and challenges, and discuss ways to find a common strategy to advance democracy in Asia. This will be an opportunity to broaden general public’s understanding on Asia and establish solidarity among Asian civil society for further close cooperation.
