[Annual Report 2019] We research the sites of civil society
We research the sites of civil society
The phenomenon of populism is getting worldwide attention. In a situation where agora politics are becoming normal, PSPD Institute for a Participatory Society studied populism in various dimensions. What are the relationships between democracy and populism? How are they portrayed differently according to space and time? What are the implications for civic society activism?
We published a total of six research papers on populism in two editions of the biannual academic journal “Citizen and the World”, and hosted a research presentation titled “Is populism an enemy of democracy?”. In the “Participatory Society Forum” which was arranged as a place of discussion and interpretation of the changing society, we analyzed the reasons for ROC-JPN conflicts, emphasized the importance of both countries’ civil society, and inspected issues and tasks of Gwangju-type job model.
